Another day of filming, as we began to reshoot the piano parts of our music video, this time having a backdrop. The backdrop we used was a large dark purple drape, which complements the dark purple and black costume of the singer. It also makes the background look more mysterious, especially when we edit the music video, changing its contrast. It also fits the mood of the song.
However we didn’t get as much filmed as we wanted, due to technical problems and the time spent putting the backdrop on the wall. Once these problems were fixed we only had time to film shots from one angel. This meant we only had about fifteen seconds of footage filmed.
Because Halloween just finished, there were plenty of masks that were available, so we had more choice in what we wanted our antagonist to look like. We got a mask which we both agreed was superior to the old one, because the antagonists face now looks fuller and more realistic. I suggested that it was better that the mask makes the antagonist look fuller because that gives connotations of him being greedy, fitting the songs description of him.
While we discussed the character of the devil we both thought of new ideas concerning our antagonist. We discussed if we could slip in a reference to a piano note called the ‘Tritone’. This particular note was banned in many churches during the medieval times for its demonic sound and its connotations with evil and the devil. We also thought about editing techniques, merging the faces of the singer and the devil to show that the devil is slowly taking her over as the music video progresses.
