To help us prepare for our Music Video Project, we were set the task of recreating a portion of the music video for Britney Spears ‘Hit me Baby One more time’. The reason we done this was to practice our camera, organisation and teamwork skills, and to also see which people we work best with, so the groups for our actual music video can be balanced.
While planning the music video it became clear that we would have to plan what shots to do and how we were to do them with limited time and resources. We started by going through the shots, one by one, and deciding how and where we were going to recreate them. While a few members of our groups planned to practice the crucial dance scene, the others, including myself decided to get to work videoing the simple shots. This itself was a challenge as we had failed to realise just how hard it was to recreate some of the scenes. One of the main difficulties was the shot where the students flood out into the hallway. Not only did the students not come out at the same time, they were nervous to when they realised we were filming. And when they did come out, they came from the wrong direction and acted inappropriately.
Once the video had been filmed, it needed to be uploaded and edited. This process, although slow and painstaking, it was rewarding after seeing the completed music video, edited so it was in as close in time with the song as possible.
My strengths when making the music video was defiantly working with the camera. As we were making a video you can see how my camera work slowly gets steadier. My Weaknesses however was being in front on the camera, proving that I am better at working behind the scenes and supporting the group.
