This is the cover to Skindred’s Shark Bites and Dog Fights. Skindred welsh rock band formed in 1998. They tend to refer their music style as ‘ragga metal’ Shark Bites and Dog Fights which is their third and latest album, was released in 2009.
The CD cover particularly represents to album name by depicting spitfire like planes, with shark faces in the place of the planes nose, bursting out from the water, with a small city silhouette in the background. The colours used on the album are mostly back greens and blacks for the planes and light browns for the background. The art style of the cover reminds me of the war posters seen during world war two, and this possible reference is backed up by the choice of using planes resembling spitfires and the portion of the album name ‘Dog Fights’. A Dogfight is a term used to describe short range combat between a number of small military planes, which have occurred in every major war since World War 1, but most famously during the battle of Briton.
The Bands name stands out on the CD cover because it has a more modern look, however this may have been intentional because the band name has the same style on their previous albums.
